STEICO Milestones
‘Gesellschaft für Bau- und Industriebedarf Steinmann & Co. GmbH’ began as a timber trading company specialising in the wholesale of imported timber products. In its founding year, one and a half employees generated a turnover of around 2.35 million DM. The original company name was later shortened to ‘STEICO’.
STEICO acquired a stake in the Polish company Ekoplyta S.A. Czarnków (near Poznań), a manufacturer of wood fibre boards with two wet-process production plants, and gradually increased this stake over the following years, culminating in a full takeover in 2005.
Production of STEICOflex flexible wood fibre insulation mats is set to begin at the Czarnków production plant. As a result, STEICO is increasingly establishing itself as a full-range supplier of insulation materials.
After STEICO acquired a stake in the Polish company Ekoplyta S.A. Czarnków (near Poznań) in 1998 and subsequently gradually expanded its holding, it took full control of the company in 2005.
In Czarna Woda (near the port city of Gdańsk), STEICO is acquiring a second production site, also a former state-owned enterprise, comprising the ‘P5’ production line for softwood fibreboards and the two production lines for hardboard, ‘T1’ and ‘T2’.
The newly established sales company focuses on the sale of joists, which are a standard component in the construction of floor structures in the UK.
Shares in STEICO AG are traded on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange (Freiverkehr) and on the Munich Stock Exchange (m:access).
The production facility of the French wood fibre insulation manufacturer Isoroy in Casteljaloux SAS (near Bordeaux, FR), which houses a production line for soft wood fibre boards (“P5”), was acquired and renamed “STEICO Casteljaloux”.
STEICO is acquiring the British timber building materials wholesaler Puhoswood Ltd., thereby strengthening its own position in the distribution of joists.
With a width of 3.8 metres and a heated drying tunnel 116 metres long spread over 14 storeys, it is probably the largest softboard production line in the world
STEICO has successfully carried out a capital increase amounting to 10 per cent of its share capital, thereby raising further funds for future investments.
