Proper insulation for a healthy home
Natural building and insulation - ecological and sustainable
The contribution of STEICO insulation materials to a healthy home
STEICO insulation materials are regularly and independently inspected and tested. The IBR seal (Institut für Baubiologie Rosenheim) is proof that only harmless ingredients are used.
You know the principle from your outdoor jacket: STEICO insulation materials are "breathable", i.e. vapour-permeable. They offer active moisture management: if moisture gets into the insulation layer, it will dry off to the outside. This intelligent moisture management keeps the construction permanently dry. The ideal protection against moisture in the construction and its consequences such as mould and structural damage.
STEICO insulation is not only effective in winter, but also in summer. Thanks to the excellent heat protection, STEICO wood fibre insulation materials make a significant contribution to cooler rooms on the hot days and thus support a restful sleep.
STEICO wood fibre insulating materials are hygroscopic, i.e. they can absorb and release air moisture. When used indoors (e.g. in floor constructions or drywall), they help regulate humidity by buffering moisture at the peaks and releasing it again when the air in the room is dry.
Stressful background noises such as traffic or construction sites in the neighbourhood reduce the feeling of well-being at home – yet quiet is important for our health.
STEICO products combine high raw density with excellent insulation values in a special way and thus support energy efficiency and noise protection in equal measure. Due to their high density and porous structure, STEICO wood fibre insulating materials promote sound absorption and thus offer excellent noise protection.

STEICO quality – independently certified
PEFC (Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification Schemes)
The PEFC certification (Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification Schemes) certifies that STEICO only uses wood from responsible forestry. You can find more information about STEICO certification at
IBR (Institut für Baubiologie in Rosenheim)
The IBR is one of the most respected testing institutes in Germany. The IBR test seal certifies that STEICO products are harmless in terms of building biology – they contribute to healthy homes and a feeling of well-being in the home.
IBU (Institut Bauen und Umwelt)
The Institute for Building and the Environment (IBU) prepares environmental declarations (EPDs) of eco-label type III in accordance with ISO and CEN standards. With the preparation of the EPDs, STEICO provides comprehensive information on the environmental impact of the ecological products over their entire life cycle.
Keymark
The Keymark certification stands for the high quality of the STEICO range. The uniform European certification mark for standardised products documents the compliance of products with European norms and quality standards.
Passivhaus
The STEICO construction system is certified as a component according to the standards of the Passivhaus Institute Dr. Wolfgang Feist. This means that the planner can draw on a large number of defined construction details. This means that passive houses can be built particularly easily and economically with the STEICO construction system.
