Blow-in insulation taken a step further: STEICOtimberfloc

The combined blow-in insulation with the advantages of wood fiber AND cellulose

With the newly developed STEICOtimberfloc blow-in insulation material, we at STEICO combine our wood fiber and cellulose blow-in insulation solutions to create a convincing and high-performance product. Bio-based blow-in insulation is a forward-looking and intelligent solution for both new builds and renovations - on site or in prefabrication.

For the first time, natural wood fibers are processed with cellulose flakes from cardboard boxes in a unique production process to create a new type of blow-in insulation that combines the positive properties of both materials: the excellent workability of cellulose with STEICO wood fiber premium insulation.

Three-dimensional interlocking: premium wood fiber insulation

As STEICOtimberfloc consists largely of wood fibers, a bulk density (volume weight) from 42 kg/m3 in the blown-in state is already sufficient according to building authority approval - significantly less than with pure cellulose blown-in insulation. This optimized use of material in combination with the fast processability makes STEICOtimberfloc particularly economical.

STEICOtimberfloc in detail: Wood fibers and cellulose flakes

During the blowing process, the STEICO wood fibers form a three-dimensionally interlocked and permanently stable insulation layer - even with a comparatively small amount of material.

In summary: excellent insulation performance with optimized material usage, less time required, more cost-effectiveness.

Quick and easy processing thanks to cellulose content

The cellulose content in STEICOtimberfloc ensures excellent flow properties of the insulating material during the blowing process. STEICOtimberfloc can therefore be processed with most common blowing machines without any problems, even with somewhat less powerful machines, which are still frequently used.

When using more powerful machines, a particularly high material throughput can be achieved with STEICOtimberfloc - the processing speed increases. The fast processing also improves economic efficiency.

Whichever machine is used, building owners and processing companies can rely on the highest quality and safety thanks to the building authority approval (ETA-23/0465).

Future-proof sustainability

For the first time in blown-in insulation, we obtain the cellulose content for STEICOtimberfloc from cardboard. This is mainly from punching waste from new, unused and therefore uncontaminated cardboard. Pure cellulose insulation, on the other hand, is dependent on newsprint, which is becoming less and less available in the desired qualities due to declining print runs.

The use of cardboard packaging is therefore a particularly intelligent form of recycling. STEICOtimberfloc turns a low-value by-product into a high-quality insulating material that helps to save energy for decades. This is resource efficiency combined with climate protection.

The wood fiber content of STEICOtimberfloc comes from sustainable forestry - independently certified according to the PEFC standard.

Saves CO2, stores CO2

Insulation materials made of wood - cellulose is also a wood product - bind CO2 in the long term. The CO2 that the trees have “breathed in” during their growth is absorbed by the wood in the form of carbon (C), while the oxygen (O2) is released. STEICO produces highly efficient timber construction materials from the naturally renewable raw material wood. STEICO products thus turn buildings into large CO2 reservoirs.

Good for the climate

Once installed, STEICOtimberfloc blown-in insulation permanently reduces heating-related CO2 emissions.

And it stores CO2 - every cubic meter of STEICOtimberfloc reduces the burden on the atmosphere by 51 kg of CO2.

That is sustainable climate protection.
