STEICOflex, low carbon insulation

Trees absorb CO2 during photosynthesis and the carbon stays in the wood even when it is processed and transformed. As a result, 82 kg CO2eq is stored per m³* STEICOflex and durably removed from the atmosphere. 

In addition, thanks to its insulating properties, it helps reduce heating energy requirements and thus saves CO2 emissions in the long term. Whether new build or renovation - STEICOflex can be used in a wide range of applications and offers numerous benefits.

Top insulation performance among bio-based insulation materials

The lower the thermal conductivity – usually referred to as the λ-value (lambda value) – the better a building material insulates. With a λD value of W/(m*K) of 0.036,  STEICOflex thermal insulation achieves top insulation performance amongst bio-based insulation materials.

Summer heat protection

Thanks to its high heat storage capacity, STEICOflex can buffer summer heat over a period of several hours. The majority of external heat fails to penetrate the building fabric and overheating of the living space is both delayed and reduced. During the evening and night time, when it is cooler, the stored heat can then escape outwards again.

Vapour-permeability

Wood fibre insulation materials such as STEICOflex are vapour-permeable, meaning they allow water vapour to pass through: should moisture penetrate the insulation layer, it can dry out again. This can help to keep the structure dry and thus protect it from mould and structural damage.

Sustainable forestry

Untreated softwood is used in the manufacture of STEICO products including STEICOflex. This wood comes from sustainably managed, PEFC-certified forests (PEFC/04-31-2550) in the regions surrounding STEICO’s production plants.

Roof, wall & floor insulation

STEICOflex can be used in new build or for renovation in roofs, facades and floors. In the attic, the flex batts can be laid between the trusses. It can be used in the roof between the joists or in the facade between wall studs with an ETIC board on top. STEICOflex can be cut with a large variety of cutting tools.
