STEICO wood fibre insulation is manufactured from at least 81% PEFC certified timber (PEFC/04-31-2550) and can help your project achieve its environmental goals. Able to be specified internally and externally, it’s an appropriate choice for walls, floors, roofs, lofts and anywhere else you need an insulation product that meets your project’s performance needs.
Where can STEICO wood fibre insulation be used?

STEICOzell is an air-injected insulation made of 81% PEFC certified timber that can be specified in a range of applications during construction, including:
- Space-filling insulation – In closed cavities of external and interior walls of timber frame constructions and similar structures.
- Insulation in closed cavities – Between rafters or timber beams as well as in cavities of corresponding structures.
- Exposed insulation – On horizontal or moderately pitched areas (10°), e. g. insulation of topmost storey ceilings which are not subjected to foot traffic, however, are accessible.
Our wood fibre insulation boards are another solution made up of at least 86% PEFC certified timber and can be used for:
- Internal wall insulation – As part of a moisture regulating IWI system
- Floor insulation – Between floor joists in every level of the building.
- Loft insulation – In the floor of the loft to stop heat escaping through your ceiling.
- Roof insulation – Between rafters in a roof system build up.
- ETICS - as part of an External Thermal Insulation Composite System

- Sourcing – All timber used is from responsible, PEFC-certified forestry.
- Thermal mass – Wood fibre offers a high thermal mass when specified appropriately so that it can help keep the building cooler in the winter and warmer in the summer. That can help create energy efficiency and associated carbon emissions savings in the right circumstances.
- Carbon emission impact – A cubic metre of STEICOflex removes 82kg of CO2eq from the atmosphere, and a cubic metre of STEICOzell removes 71kg of CO2eq during Lifecycle Stage A1 as defined in EN 15804. Their insulating qualities could also help to reduce heating energy needs, therefore potentially reducing the CO2 emissions created once the building is in operation.
- Sound insulation – STEICOflex has a bulk density of approximately 50kg/m3 which can contribute to your overall sound insulation targets.
- Minimal additives or adhesives: Wood fibre boards incorporate only a small number of binding agents and work in harmony with the wood’s natural lignin to create a strong, rigid, and durable product.
- Lightweight – STEICOzell air-injected insulation is a lightweight product with no loss of performance thanks to the three-dimensional interlocking wood fibres. Optimised material requirements also mean it can potentially be a cost-effective choice when specified and installed appropriately.
